BIO

In her interdisciplinary practice, Lia Sáile (*1985) reflects on questions of borders, their crossings, transitions, grey areas and interspaces in (inter-)cultural, social, philosophical, political and media reflexive context. Utilizing manifest fragments of reality, she examines themes of culturality, tradition, individual and collective identity-formation, strategies of in- and exclusion as well as questions of belonging and othering with a post- & de-colonial, migrational as well as territorial sensibility. Her interdisciplinary work encompasses interventions in public space, site-specific installations, performance, and time-based media, incorporating materials such as textiles and sand, also implementing research based text and handwriting fragments. The processual and the ephemeral, their fluidity, are often key elements of her practice.
